Prince Harry’s Attendance at King’s Coronation Hangs in the Balance
Prince Harry has reportedly made some key demands ahead of the King's Coronation in May, with his attendance at the event now uncertain.
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed receiving an invitation, they have yet to confirm whether they will be present at Westminster Abbey on May 6th.
Sources have revealed that the youngest grandchildren of the monarch have not been invited to the coronation, which means that their daughter will be a few weeks shy of her second birthday and their son, Archie, will be turning four on the same day.
Typically, young children do not attend royal events due to the risk of restlessness and tantrums.
However, it would be considered unusual if Archie were not invited, as the King himself was the same age when he witnessed Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1953.
In contrast, Prince William's three children are expected to attend the coronation, despite being older than their cousins.
Interestingly, May 6th also happens to be Prince Harry and Meghan's son Archie's fourth birthday.
As a result, the couple has requested that some form of celebration or acknowledgement be included in the day's festivities to ensure their son's birthday is not overshadowed by the momentous event.
In addition to these requests, Prince Harry has reportedly asked for a summit with King Charles and Prince William to discuss their ongoing issues.
He hopes to reconcile with his family and believes that a face-to-face conversation is necessary.
Furthermore, he has requested security protection for himself and his family whenever they return to the UK.
In July 2022, the High Court ruled in his favor, allowing his claim against the government to proceed.
It is also believed that the Sussexes have expressed their desire for a famous balcony appearance following the King's coronation.
Additionally, they have reportedly requested to stay at their former UK home, Frogmore Cottage, during their potential visit.
However, the property is currently occupied by Princess Eugene's young family, as Meghan and Harry were asked to vacate earlier this year.
Prince Harry has been clear about his stance, stating that he will not attend if the atmosphere is toxic, as it was during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and Funeral.
Despite their desire to reconcile with the family, it appears that nothing has changed in this regard.
