Duchess of York Urges Royal Family Members to Choose Sides
Amid ongoing tensions between the Royal Family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Duchess of York has weighed in on the matter, stating that those who choose to lead the fold must decide whether they want to be fully committed or not.
In her recent comments, the 63-year-old Duchess emphasized that one cannot sit on the fence and keep one foot in and one foot out.
She added, “You're either in or out.
But then don't cry about not being invited to weddings.
You choose to leave.
Now go and live it.
And be it.”
Many royal experts believe that the Duchess's remarks were directed towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Following their decision to step back from royal duties in 2020, the couple dropped their HRH titles and no longer receive public funds.
In their announcement, they expressed their intention to become financially independent while continuing to support Queen Elizabeth II.
Since their departure from the Royal Family three years ago, Harry and Meghan have made several revelations, including accusations of racism within the royal ranks and allegations of negative press coverage orchestrated by the palace.
Earlier this year, Harry released his best-selling memoir, “Spare,” in which he claimed that his older brother, the Prince of Wales, physically attacked him and that his father, Prince Charles, considered his role as heir and a spare fulfilled after Harry's birth.
The question of whether Harry and Meghan will attend King Charles III and the Queen Consort's coronation on May 6th remains unanswered.
While the couple has received email correspondence regarding the ceremony, they have yet to disclose their decision.
Harry recently made a surprise visit to the UK last Monday, March 27th, to attend a hearing in his legal battle against Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers.
During his visit, he stayed at Frogmore Cottage, where he reportedly sorted out his and Meghan's belongings.
The couple had been asked by the King to vacate the property last month, and they are now planning to ship their items to their residence in Montecito, California.
In her interview, the Duchess of York also shared her own experiences of being in the public eye, particularly when she married Prince Andrew.
She acknowledged that social media has made it even more challenging.
Referring to Prince Harry, she expressed her belief in not judging anyone and called for more kindness.
