Peppa Pig Outshines Harry and Meghan’s Netflix Documentary in Viewership

In a surprising turn of events, it seems that Peppa Pig, the popular children's cartoon, has stolen the spotlight from and 's much-anticipated Netflix documentary.

The official figures have been released, and they don't bode well for the Sussexes.

While their documentary on their royal exit managed to accumulate a combined 62 million hours of viewership in the first half of 2023, Peppa Pig effortlessly surpassed that with over 140 million hours for its first two seasons.

The irony of this situation is hard to ignore.

It appears that the revenge plot against the monarchy has backfired, leaving the monarchy unfazed.

To put it into perspective, 60 million hours viewed is roughly equivalent to one million people watching a one-hour episode once.

This stark comparison highlights the undeniable success of Peppa Pig and the underwhelming performance of Harry and Meghan's documentary.

Netflix, which had previously faced criticism for its lack of transparency regarding viewership numbers, released these figures.

It seems that the Sussexes' star power wasn't enough to outshine the oinktastic success of Peppa Pig.

Surprisingly, the most viewed show in the first half of the year on Netflix was not the Sussex documentary, but the political thriller “The Night Agent.”

Premiering on March 23, it garnered an impressive 812 million hours viewed in just three months.

Following closely behind was the second season of the comedy-drama “Ginny and Georgia,” with 665 million hours viewed in six months.

Even the revenge thriller “The Glory” surpassed the royal duo with 623 million hours watched.

It's evident that Harry and Meghan might want to take notes on the success of these shows.

However, Netflix was quick to clarify that success is not solely determined by numbers but also by the ability to captivate and thrill the audience, considering the audience's size relative to the economics.

In other words, a show needs to make waves to be deemed successful.

And in this regard, Peppa Pig's puddle-splashing antics are making bigger waves than the Sussexes' royal revelations.

Netflix's semi-annual report divulged information about over 18,000 titles, with nearly 100 billion hours watched in total.

The report emphasized that success on Netflix is not solely determined by hours viewed.

This revelation serves as a wake-up call for Harry and Meghan, suggesting that they may need to reconsider their content strategy and focus on creating content that genuinely connects with viewers.

This news is more than just a blow to the Sussexes' Netflix aspirations; it serves as a stark reminder that the audience desires more than just a spectacle.

It's time for Harry and Meghan to rethink their approach and concentrate on producing content that truly captivates their audience.
