Intimate Family Portrait Unveiled on Prince and Princess of Wales’ Christmas Card

The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a heartwarming family portrait that will feature on the front of their Christmas card this year.

The photograph, captured by renowned fashion and portrait photographer Josh Shinner in Windsor earlier this year, showcases the family of five dressed in matching white shirts.

Drawing inspiration from a 1991 portrait by Lord Snowdon, where a young was featured against a black-and-white backdrop, the Prince and Princess, along with their three children, strike a pose around a velvet chair.

In the center of the frame, middle child , donning jeans and canvas shoes, leans forward in the chair, while rests his hand on the arm, with his father's hand gently placed on his shoulder.

Future king, Prince George, leans against his mother Kate, who lovingly wraps her arm around her son's waist.

The princess exudes elegance in a v-neck shirt, dark wash jeans, and her brunette locks styled in 70s-inspired waves.

On the other hand, the king and queen have chosen a regal coronation photograph taken at Buckingham Palace for their festive card, which will be sent to friends, family, and colleagues.

This year's Wales family card exudes a more casual vibe compared to the king's card, yet maintains an air of sophistication.

The photograph was taken by acclaimed photographer Josh Schinner during a visit to Windsor earlier this year.

Last year's snapshot depicted the family strolling hand-in-hand around their Norfolk estate, while their 2021 photograph captured the couple and their children enjoying a holiday in Jordan.

Previous cards released during their time as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also embraced a relaxed and vibrant aesthetic.

Notably, their 2018 card featured the couple seated on a tree trunk at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

This year's card continues the tradition of the Prince of Wales, who has consistently opted for informal and relaxed festive greetings.

Charles and Diana's cards from previous years also reflected this laid-back approach.

The current card bears a striking resemblance to the one issued by Charles and Diana in 1984, complete with a mischievous and a young , who was born in September of that year.

The release of this year's Christmas cards follows the Princess of Wales' annual Christmas Carol concert at Westminster Abbey on Friday.

The Together at Christmas concert boasted an impressive guest list, including renowned singers Beverly Knight and Adam Lambert, actor Jim Broadbent, and TV presenters Emma Willis and Roman Kemp.

Catherine took center stage, leading the royal family during the concert, which featured a blend of traditional and contemporary Christmas music.

During the event, the Princess of Wales engaged in conversations with young individuals who had gone above and beyond to help others throughout the year.

As a special treat for the guests, she performed a rendition of Wham's “Last Christmas” on John Lennon's piano.

A royal aide expressed the Princess' hope that the service would remind people of the preciousness of a child's early years, coinciding with the world's celebration of the birth of a newborn baby.

This serves as a reminder of the uniqueness of this period and the significance of the early years as we establish our first relationships, bond with our loved ones, and explore the world around us.

It also symbolizes hope for the future, as we aspire for our children to grow up in a world that is happier, healthier, fairer, kinder, and more tolerant—a world built on love and compassion.
