Poll Reveals Calls to Ban Meghan Markle and Prince Harry from King’s Coronation
A recent poll has revealed that there is growing support for banning Meghan Markle and Prince Harry from King Charles' coronation.
The couple's new Netflix docuseries, Meghan and Harry, has prompted renewed pressure on the king to take action after they criticized the royal family.
While their criticism was not as severe as anticipated, the couple made damaging allegations against the firm.
According to a GB News poll conducted by People Polling with 1,231 respondents, 24% of Brits believe that the Sussexes should be excluded from next year's coronation following the release of their Netflix series.
The poll shows that 17% of respondents completely agree with this statement, while an additional 7% somewhat agree.
On the other hand, 39% somewhat or completely disagree, with 18% remaining undecided.
In terms of which royal couple best represents British values, 54% of interviewees believe that Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are a better fit.
In contrast, only 7% support Harry and Meghan.
This stark difference in public opinion highlights the divide between the two couples.
Another significant development is Lady Susan Hussey's resignation, which garnered mixed responses.
While 33% completely agree with her decision, 16% completely disagree.
Lady Susan's resignation followed a series of scandals within the royal family, including Meghan's claim that a member of the firm expressed concerns about her baby Archie's skin color during her pregnancy.
The racism issue gained further attention when Ngozi Fulani, founder and CEO of Sista Spice, a leading domestic abuse charity for women of African and Caribbean heritage, accused Lady Susan of making disparaging and racist comments.
The encounter involved persistent inquiries about Fulani's African origins.
These incidents have added fuel to the fire and intensified the ongoing racism controversy.
Adding to the turmoil, Harry and Meghan's Netflix trailers have attracted international attention, surpassing even the popular series “The Crown.”
The first episode of their documentary was watched by 2.4 million people on its launch day, compared to 1.1 million for the latest season of “The Crown.”
This significant viewership demonstrates the public's interest in the couple's story and their decision to step away from the royal family.
While the documentary primarily focuses on negative media treatment, it also addresses racism within the royal family, which appears to be a key factor in the couple's departure.
Harry accused his family of unconscious bias, claiming it blinded them to the struggles he and Meghan faced before their dramatic exit.
He emphasized the importance of acknowledging and rectifying unconscious bias once it is identified.
The response from King Charles to these accusations remains uncertain.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has warned that further attacks from Harry and Meghan could lead to the royals severing all ties with the couple, who are currently based in California.
An express.co.uk poll shows that 93% of respondents believe that the Sussexes should not be invited to King Charles' coronation in May next year.
