Will King Charles III Revoke Archon Lilibet’s New Titles?
In a recent turn of events, the question arises as to whether King Charles III will revoke the newly bestowed titles of Archon Lilibet.
Following the unfortunate demise of the Queen, it was widely reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's two young children would assume the titles of Prince and Princess.
This speculation turned into reality six months later when Buckingham Palace officially updated the children's website, replacing the previous references of “Master” and “Miss” with the prestigious titles of Prince and Princess.
According to royal tradition, the grandchildren of a monarch automatically inherit the titles of Prince and Princess.
With Charles now assuming the role of King over the Commonwealth and 14 other realms, Archon Lilibet became entitled to the use of these titles starting from September 8th, 2022.
However, it wasn't until the private christening ceremony held on March 3rd, 2023, that her official use of the Princess title was confirmed by her parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Interestingly, Buckingham Palace only updated their website after Harry and Meghan had publicly disclosed details about the intimate affair.
The christening itself was conducted by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, Reverend John Taylor, and attended by approximately 20 to 30 guests, including Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, and Lilibet's godfather, Tyler Perry, as reported by People magazine.
Before the official decision regarding the titles in March 2023, King Charles III reportedly waited to see how Harry and Meghan would handle the initial months of his reign.
Only then did he officially bestow the Prince and Princess titles upon their children.
An inside source close to the royal family clarified that Charles' love for Harry is unconditional, and any decision regarding Archon Lilibet's titles would not be intended as a slight against his son.
In early April, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Harry would attend his father's coronation alone, while Meghan, along with their children Archie and Lilibet, would remain in California.
However, Meghan has been cautioned that her decision to keep the children away from the coronation could potentially lead to resentment from Archie and Lilibet.
Renowned royal expert Tom Quinn suggests that this choice may cause tensions within Meghan's immediate family in the future, as the children might question why they were absent from significant royal events such as the coronation.
Quinn, who recently published his book titled “Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family,” believes that Meghan's decision is one of her biggest mistakes.
He predicts that the children will eventually hold resentment towards Meghan for keeping them away from the glitzy world they could have been a part of.
Looking back, Archie and Lilibet may express regret, thinking about how marvelous it could have been if they had attended such events.
The royal expert further emphasizes the need for caution, especially as the children grow older and if Meghan continues to keep them away from King Charles and the rest of the royal family.
He suggests that this ongoing separation could lead to mounting resentment in the future.
However, some argue that even if Harry and Meghan were still working royals, the children would never have been allowed to attend such events.
The reasoning behind this speculation revolves around the complexities of international travel for minors, including the requirement for valid birth certificates and notarized permission from both parents.
As the world eagerly watches the unfolding dynamics within the royal family, the fate of Archon Lilibet's titles remains uncertain.
Only time will reveal whether King Charles III will revoke these newly acquired honors or let them stand as a testament to the intricate balance between tradition and personal choices within the monarchy.
