Sussexes’ Climate Change Pledge Offends Royal Fans

and have sparked controversy among royal fans after putting pressure on the Royal Family with their ambitious climate change goals.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently announced their commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030 through their Archule Foundation.

This move comes just a day after II failed to mention them in her COP26 speech, where she praised Prince Charles, , and 's environmental efforts.

Jack Royston, the author of the piece, took to Twitter to highlight the impact of Harry's carbon pledge on the royals.

He tweeted, “Harry's carbon pledge pressures royals after Queen omits him from speech.”

The report suggests that and 's commitment to tackling climate change has challenged the Royal Family.

However, this claim has not been well-received by many Twitter users.

One user, Canine Flyer, dismissed the notion that the Royals are under pressure, stating, “Pressures the Royals?

Jack, you obviously have not done your research on the established and planned eco-changes made to the Royal residences and transport.”

Another user, Yankee Doodle Do, pointed out that competing for headlines seems to be the Sussexes' game, rather than the Queen's.

They emphasized that the Royal Family has been championing environmental issues for decades.

In response to the criticism, West Coast Woman 7 commented, “Zero pressure, Jack.

Harry and Meghan were whining again.

It's pretty easy to reduce your work emissions when you don't do anything but talk and write letters and announce every little thing because you think you're important.”

Lea_Rebecca_ echoed this sentiment, questioning whether the Sussexes' constant announcements are truly pressuring the Royals.

They suggested that the Royals use their real power to bring about substantial change, while the Sussexes merely jump on the bandwagon.

Eva Lollabopind sarcastically called the Sussexes' commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030 a joke.

They questioned the feasibility of this goal, stating, “To take a website and 20 staff to net zero carbon in 9 years?

Wow.

You do know this is just bandwagon jumping because they are ignored by the powers that be and reduced irrelevant, right?”

In a statement on the Archul website, the Duke and Duchess emphasized their long-standing commitment to the planet, dating back over a decade.

While Harry and Meghan have faced criticism for their use of private jets, it is worth noting that they may now fly less frequently than working royals who undertake overseas tours at the request of the British Foreign Office.

In the year 2019 to 2020, the royals, including Harry and Meghan, took a total of 94 private jets and 191 helicopter journeys, in addition to other scheduled flights, all funded by the public.

However, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on international travel remains to be seen.

The Sussexes' announcement came shortly after II praised her son, Prince Charles, and her grandson, , for their efforts in combating climate change.

In her pre-recorded message, the Queen expressed her pride in their work and highlighted the role her late husband, , played in raising awareness about environmental issues.

The Archule Foundation's statement reiterated its commitment to reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030, acknowledging that they are a young company but determined to make a significant impact.

While the Sussexes' climate change pledge has sparked debate among royal fans, it remains to be seen how the Royal Family will respond to this challenge.

As the world continues to grapple with the urgent need for environmental action, the actions and commitments of all individuals, including those within the Royal Family, will undoubtedly be closely scrutinized.
