Lawmaker Launches Bid to Strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of Royal Titles

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may face a challenge to their royal titles as reports emerge of a lawmaker planning to take action in Parliament.

Bob Seeley, a Conservative Member of the UK Parliament, announced in December that he intends to introduce a bill to strip the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their royal titles.

This comes in the wake of their controversial Netflix docuseries and Harry's explosive memoir, “Spare,” which was released shortly after.

Royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti has confirmed that Seeley is determined to make this happen.

Seeley plans to present a private member's bill that would allow for a vote to amend the 1917 Titles Deprivation Act.

This act was previously used during the First World War to strip the German royal family of their UK titles.

Sacerdoti explained that such treacherous behavior was deemed sufficient cause for title removal back then, highlighting the striking parallel with Seeley's desire to use the same law against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The bill is expected to be drafted sometime in mid-February, after which it will undergo the parliamentary process for consideration.

Regarding the recent developments in the royal drama following the release of “Spare,” Sacerdoti expressed his opinion on the matter.

He noted that the book was seen by many as a betrayal of the royal family and the monarchy, and it has also faced considerable mockery.

This departure from traditional royal behavior has raised concerns among the public.

Sacerdoti further emphasized that the book contains more detailed and numerous allegations against the royal family than ever before.

As a result, Prince Harry's favorability rating has declined, leading many to question whether he should still be allowed to use his royal title.

In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior members of the royal family and relocated to the United States.

They now reside in Montecito, California, with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
