Meghan and Harry Face Criticism for Out-of-Touch Public Visits

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently made their first joint appearances in New York since the birth of their daughter, Lilibet Diana, on June 4.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Global Citizen Live event, advocating for equal access to the COVID-19 vaccine, and also visited a school in Harlem.

However, their public outings received criticism from royal expert Katie Nicholl, who pointed out a glaring inconsistency between their actions and the image they want to portray.

One particular issue that drew negative attention was the couple's choice to travel back to their home in Montecito by private jet, despite their vocal stance on climate change.

Ms. Nicholl, the royal editor of Vanity Fair, expressed her disapproval on The Royal Beat, saying, “Turning up at an underprivileged school in Harlem, in a couture coat that costs more than the combined incomes of most of those parents at the school.

The Duchess faced criticism for wearing a $5,840 Loro Piano cashmere coat while visiting an underprivileged area of New York.

She paired the coat with $1,685 wide-leg pants and red Manolo Blahnik-pointed toe-heels.

Observers on social media also noted the striking resemblance between Meghan's suit and the one worn by Michelle Obama.

Speculation has been rife about Meghan's potential career move into politics, with rumors suggesting she may even run in the next election.
