Meghan Slams Royal Family for Forcing Her to Write Controversial Letter to Father

In a recent development, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has criticized Prince Charles and other members of the royal family for pressuring her into writing a letter to her estranged father, Thomas Markle.

Meghan claims that she penned the letter to protect her husband, , from constant berating by the royals.

She expressed her frustration, stating that the Windsors fail to comprehend her complicated relationship with her father.

Earlier this year, a High Court judge ruled in favor of Meghan, stating that the Mail on Sunday had violated her privacy and copyright by publishing parts of the letter she wrote to her father in August 2018, three months after her wedding to Harry.

The letter, consisting of five pages, was a result of the deteriorating relationship between Meghan and her father, who missed her wedding due to health issues and admitted to posing for paparazzi pictures.

Recently, the Mail on Sunday appealed to the Court of Appeal, seeking to overturn the ruling.

They argued that Meghan had written the letter with the knowledge that it could potentially become public.

In a text message revealed during the court proceedings, Meghan informed her then-communications chief, Jason Knauf, that she wrote the letter because she witnessed how much pain it was causing Harry.

She expressed her disappointment in Prince Charles and other royals for their lack of understanding and their tendency to forget the context of the situation.

Meghan's intention behind writing the letter was to provide Harry with a means to defend himself against his family's constant criticism.

She believed that taking this action would shield her husband from ongoing berating.

Additionally, she hoped that it might encourage her father to reflect on his actions.

This revelation adds to the existing tension between the Sussexes and Prince Charles.

During their interview with earlier this year, Harry expressed feeling let down by his father and discussed their strained relationship.

Under pressure from the royal family to reconcile with her father, Meghan argued that it was impractical for her to travel to Mexico and visit him at his home.

The media attention surrounding such a visit would only bring further embarrassment to the royal family.

The text messages between Meghan and Mr. Knauf were released by lawyers after a three-day court hearing this week.

These messages provide evidence that Meghan and Mr. Knauf were aware of the possibility of the letter being made public, despite her subsequent complaint about the breach of privacy and copyright.

In one previously unseen message, Mr. Knauf advised Meghan to address the fact that her father had pulled out of giving her away at her wedding after claiming to have suffered a heart attack.

Meghan informed him that she had drafted the letter with the understanding that it could be leaked.

She carefully chose her words, including the term “daddy,” which she believed would evoke sympathy if the letter were to become public.

Mr. Knauf responded, stating that the draft letter was emotionally powerful, showcasing resignation rather than anger.

He suggested a few adjustments to strengthen the order of events, claiming that it was even worse than she remembered.

However, he emphasized the importance of addressing her father's heart attack as a means to garner criticism and sympathy.

This latest revelation sheds light on the complex dynamics within the royal family and the challenges faced by Meghan and Harry.

While they continue to navigate their roles within the monarchy, healing their relationship with Prince Charles remains a priority for Harry.

The court proceedings have provided insight into the thought process behind Meghan's letter to her father, highlighting the careful consideration she gave to its content and emotional impact.
