Meghan Markle’s Potential Partnership with Dior: Rumor or Reality?
Rumors have been circulating recently about the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, potentially signing a deal with the prestigious fashion house, Dior.
However, according to a source at Dior, there is no imminent agreement in place, leaving the staff in Paris puzzled as to how this story came about.
The speculation of Meghan becoming the new Duchess of Dior has caused quite a stir, but it seems that these claims are unfounded.
Victoria Ward, the royal correspondent for The Daily Telegraph and a supporter of the Sussexes, took to Twitter to clarify the situation.
She stated that Meghan is not currently in talks with Dior to sign any deals, debunking the rumors that have been circulating.
The source at Dior also denies any truth to the claims that Meghan will be partnering with the French fashion house.
This follows previous denials regarding a potential deal between Prince Harry and Dior after he was seen wearing the label.
The rumors of Meghan collaborating with Dior gained momentum online after a Beverly Hills socialite informed Mail Online that there had been whispers for weeks about the Duchess signing a deal with the luxury brand.
This revelation sent the gossip mill into overdrive.
Christopher Anderson, author of “The King,” commented on the rumor, suggesting that Meghan and Dior would be a logical fit.
He described it as a tentative first step into the endorsement world, but an upscale one at that.
Anderson compared it to when the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, started doing commercials for Weight Watchers, as she also had endorsement deals with other brands.
Anderson further argued that if Meghan has decided to capitalize on her royal exit, it would be wise to do so before her star power diminishes.
He even proposed the idea of Meghan becoming the face of L'Oreal, while Harry could feature in advertisements for luxury brands like Rolex or Cartier.
Such partnerships with renowned fashion houses often lead to substantial financial gains, as seen with Johnny Depp's multi-million dollar deal with Dior and Jennifer Lawrence's contract extension.
Meghan's affinity for Dior is well-known, as she has frequently showcased their makeup and designs.
From her wedding day in 2018, where she reportedly wore a full face of Dior beauty products, to various public appearances, Meghan has consistently chosen Dior outfits.
She opted for a navy fit and flare frock for a Royal Air Force event in 2018, a cream-colored Dior haute couture gown during a tour of Morocco in 2019, and a white coat dress and hat for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Thanksgiving service in 2022.
The Duchess has also turned to Dior for more personal moments, such as St Archie's christening in 2019 and Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022.
Notably, Prince Harry has also shown his support for Dior by wearing a suit designed by Kim Jones, Dior's artistic director, at King Charles III's coronation last month.
The connection between Dior and the British royal family extends beyond Meghan and Harry, as Christian Dior himself was reportedly infatuated with Princess Margaret's hourglass figure.
The late Queen's sister became an inspiration for the designer, and she frequently wore his pieces.
While the idea of Meghan Markle becoming the new face of Dior may be enticing, it seems that these rumors are premature.
As of now, there is no concrete evidence to support the claim that Meghan will be partnering with the iconic fashion house.
However, given Meghan's admiration for Dior and her potential for future endorsement deals, it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the Duchess in the world of fashion and beauty.
