Meghan Markle’s Sister Files Lawsuits for Defamation and Breach of Privacy
Samantha Markle, the half-sister of Meghan Markle, has taken legal action against her sister for defamation and breach of privacy.
On Monday, Samantha met with her legal team to prepare lawsuits against Meghan in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
The lawsuits are in response to Meghan allegedly providing false information about Samantha's life to the authors of the book “Finding Freedom.”
Recently, Prince Harry and Meghan's ex-communications secretary, Jason Knauf, revealed emails that showed the royal couple's instructions to Knauf regarding what he should tell the authors, Ahmed Scobie and Caroline Durand.
Meghan included details about Samantha and their brother, Thomas Markle Jr., and asked Knauf to share this information with the writers.
Meghan wanted Knauf to state that her siblings had dropped out of high school and that she had no relationship with them.
She also mentioned that Samantha changed her name back to Markle and started a career in the press after Meghan and Harry's dating revelation.
Additionally, Meghan pointed out Samantha's alleged failure to have custody of her three children from different fathers.
Last Wednesday, Samantha was reportedly shocked when Meghan apologized to the Court of Appeal after emails were revealed, proving that Samantha had indeed cooperated with the authors of “Finding Freedom.”
According to Mirror, Samantha stated, “I'm looking at suing for defamation in the U.S.
In the U.K., I'm looking at a breach of privacy and Data Privacy Act breach because the statutory window for defamation is only one year in the U.K.”
Samantha defended herself by stating that she never lost custody of any of her children.
She also clarified that she changed her name before her sister met Harry and shared documents to prove it.
Samantha further claimed that Meghan wanted to portray them as estranged to discredit them and keep them away from the wedding and married life.
However, Samantha insisted that they had a normal family life before all the fame.
She also revealed that Meghan intentionally referred to their father as “Daddy” in a letter, aiming to evoke sympathy if the letter ever became public.
The bombshell revelations from Knauf have caused criticism towards Meghan and Harry.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that Harry will release his memoir in late 2022.
Royal fans eagerly await what the Duke of Sussex will reveal about his U.K. family.
Royal expert Lady Colin Campbell has suggested that the memoir could potentially weaken the British royal family's image.
In another related development, there are speculations that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may skip the traditional royal Christmas with the Queen due to their busy schedule.
Typically, the royal family spends the Christmas period together at Sandringham, a tradition they have followed since 1988.
This year will be the first Christmas for the Queen since the passing of her husband, Prince Philip, in April.
The birth of their daughter, Lilibet, who has yet to meet any of the royal family, adds more uncertainty to Harry and Meghan's Christmas plans.
Author Stuart Pearce shared his insights on the Sussexes' Christmas plans during an interview with host Christina Garibaldi on Royal E.U.S.
Pearce stated that Harry and Meghan won't be able to attend due to their own arrangements and numerous ongoing projects.
However, he mentioned that all the other family members will gather to see the Queen at Sandringham, acknowledging that it will be a tough and different Christmas without Prince Philip.
Both Pearce and Garibaldi praised the Queen for her strength and resilience, especially in the face of recent health concerns.
As the festive season approaches, the Queen has flown to Sandringham to prepare for the upcoming celebrations.
This visit marks her recovery after a recent health scare.
It is believed that she traveled to her Norfolk home to ensure everything is in order for the festivities next month.
