In a poignant gesture of respect towards his late grandmother, II, and his father, III, Prince William incorporated two royal ciphers on the right shoulder strap of his military uniform.

These ciphers symbolize the roles he holds as an aide-de-camp to both monarchs.

The investiture ceremony saw Prince William bestowing honors upon various individuals, including lionesses, soccer stars Beth Mead and Lucy Bronze, and former palace adviser Jason North.

It was during this event that the alterations to Prince William's uniform were noticed.

Above the golden-braided agulets on his shoulder strap, the royal monograms representing his grandmother, who passed away in September, and his father, who was crowned in a splendid ceremony just days ago, were prominently displayed.

This unique honor bestowed upon Prince William as an aide-de-camp by multiple monarchs has drawn attention to its historical significance.

A tweet by Isagur, highlighting this milestone, quickly gained traction.

According to the tweet, Prince William is the first person since Lord Mountbatten to receive such an appointment.

These positions are honorary and unpaid, awarded at the discretion of the monarch, as confirmed by the Ministry of Defence.

While Prince William has held the position of aide-de-camp to Queen Elizabeth for the past decade, his newly acquired honor from King Charles is a recent development.

The exact timing of when the king bestowed this role remains unclear.

At his previous investiture ceremony in October 2022, Prince William only wore Queen Elizabeth's initials.

During the recent investiture, he wore the ceremonial dress uniform of the Welsh Guards, along with the mantle of the Order of the Garter and formal robes for the coronation.

Consequently, the king's cipher was not visible on that occasion.

During the coronation church service, Prince William paid homage to his father by kneeling before him after being crowned, demonstrating his allegiance.

In contrast, only bowed his head for a brief moment as King Charles passed.

Other members of the royal family, including Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, , and , were also observed bowing or curtsying to the new monarch.

With this appointment, Prince William takes one step closer to the British throne, a role he has been preparing for throughout his life.

As the heir, he has undergone extensive training to ensure the survival of the British monarchy.

At the age of 74, King Charles becomes the oldest monarch to ascend the British throne.

Royal experts, such as Marlene Koenig, believe that Charles sees himself as a caretaker of the throne for William, as he acknowledges his own limited time in the role.
