Prince Harry’s Decision to Attend King Charles’ Coronation Backfires, Ex-friend of Meghan Markle Claims
Prince Harry's decision to attend King Charles' coronation has been met with controversy and criticism.
According to Liz Cundey, a former friend of Meghan Markle, the move backfired spectacularly.
Cundey accused Meghan of making a poor excuse for not being part of the coronation festivities, raising questions about whether the Sussexes would come to Britain for the event.
Insiders suggest that the couple had concerns about security details surrounding their visit.
However, they eventually released a statement confirming Prince Harry's attendance while stating that Meghan would remain in the US with their two young children.
This decision was made as their son Archie would be celebrating his fourth birthday on the same day as the coronation.
On the day of King Charles' coronation, millions of Britons were glued to their screens.
Recent figures from research organization BARB revealed that the UK audience peaked at 20.4 million viewers just after midday when the monarch was crowned.
The breakdown of the figures showed that the majority, 13.4 million, watched the event on BBC1, followed by 3.6 million on ITV, and 1.5 million on BBC2.
These numbers surpassed previous royal events, including the Platinum Jubilee concert and the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The interest in the monarchy remains substantial, as demonstrated by the high viewership.
Despite the revelations and allegations made by Meghan and Prince Harry in recent months, it seems that the damage to the institution was not as severe as initially feared.
The coronation service, where King Charles and Queen Camilla were crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury, attracted fewer viewers than the wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William in 2011, which was followed by around 24 million viewers at its peak.
Additionally, Queen Elizabeth's funeral garnered more than 28 million viewers last September.
The release of Harry and Meghan's Netflix docuseries, which included allegations against the royal family, raised questions about the couple's intentions.
Some sources speculated that their goal was to bring down the monarchy.
The series accused the firm of unconscious bias and palace briefings against the Duke and Duchess.
