Gail King Supports Duke and Duchess as Prince Harry Attends Coronation
Gail King, the CBS Morning Host, expressed her support for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following Prince Harry's confirmation that he will be attending the coronation of his father, King Charles III.
King attended the Time 100 gala in New York City on April 26th, where she spoke to Us Weekly on the red carpet.
She commended the royal couple for their decision, as Prince Harry will be present at the coronation while Meghan remains in California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Elizabeth.
“I think Meghan and Harry should do what's best for them,” said the 68-year-old journalist.
“Clearly, they know what's going on in their family life.
They know what's going on over there.”
King emphasized that she does not offer unwanted advice to the Duke and Duchess regarding their relationship with the royal family.
“They consult me about nothing when it comes to that or anything of that matter,” she explained.
“I think they make the decision that's best for them, but I think as far as his dad, I'm glad he's going.”
On April 12th, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Harry will be attending the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey on May 6th.
However, his wife Meghan will remain in California as it also marks their son's fourth birthday.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace announced, “The Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th.
The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
This news follows months of speculation regarding Prince Harry's attendance at the ceremony, especially after his explosive claims about the royal family in his memoir, “Spare,” which was released in January.
The couple also revealed their grievances with the royal family in their Netflix docuseries, “Harry and Meghan.”
Despite these tensions, Gail King assured that Harry and Meghan are in a good place.
“You've seen the two of them together, and I know they have is really true blue, and it's good to see the happiness that they give each other,” she said.
Gail King is not the only famous friend of the couple to comment on their relationship with the royal family.
Deepak Chopra, the Indian-American mindfulness expert, recently shared his perspective on their current state of mind amidst the rift.
“They're struggling right now,” he told the Daily Mail.
“I hope they get through it light-hearted…
There's too much drama around them.
People should mind their own business.”
Chopra also advised the couple to ignore the negativity surrounding them, stating, “If you ignore it, people can't see anything, then they'll stop.”
Previously, it was reported that Prince Harry was seeking an apology from his father, Charles, and his brother, the Prince of Wales, before committing to the ceremony.
In an interview, Harry mentioned that the door for reconciliation is always open.
As the news of Prince Harry's attendance at the coronation spreads, many are curious about the public's opinion on the matter.
