Prince Harry Faces Backlash for Criticizing First Amendment in Podcast Interview

Prince Harry, who now resides in California with Meghan Markle after stepping back from his royal duties last year, has sparked controversy and received backlash for his recent comments on the First Amendment during a podcast interview.

The Duke of Sussex admitted that he finds the amendment, which protects freedom of speech, “bonkers” and confessed to not fully understanding it.

But, you can find a loophole in anything.

You can capitalize or exploit what's not said rather than uphold what is said.”

Meghan McCain, daughter of the late US Senator John McCain and co-host of ABC's talk show The View, reminded Harry of the country's history, tweeting, “We fought a war in 1776 so we don't have to care what you say or think.

That being said, you have chosen to seek refuge from your homeland here and thrive because of all that our country has to offer, and one of the biggest things is the First Amendment.

Show some utter respect.”

Commentator Megyn Kelly also chimed in, quoting the famous saying, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.”

Ted Cruz, a senator from Texas, sarcastically acknowledged Harry's freedom of speech, while Fox News host Laura Ingraham bid him farewell with a snarky remark.

Former Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage, who has been touring the US, warned that Harry's condemnation of the First Amendment demonstrates his detachment from reality and suggested that he may soon find himself unwelcome on either side of the Atlantic.
