Conservative MP Proposes Bill to Remove Harry and Meghan’s Royal Titles

A Conservative Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom has announced plans to introduce a bill that could strip and of their royal titles.

If passed, this bombshell law would require the House of Commons to consider addressing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as Mr and Mrs instead.

Bob Seeley, the MP behind the proposal, blames the couple for the recent royal racism controversy that has dominated headlines.

In an article for the Mail on Sunday, Seeley pointed out that the controversy escalated when the identities of two senior members of the royal family, who allegedly raised concerns about the skin color of Harry and Meghan's unborn son, were revealed in the Dutch translation of author Omid Scobie's book, “Endgame.”

Television host Piers Morgan was the first to publicly identify them as and Princess Kate.

Seeley, who supports the monarchy, believes that Parliament and the Privy Council should consider what he calls the “nuclear option.”

He argues that if Harry and Meghan no longer wish to be part of the royal family, they should not retain their titles and privileges while criticizing an institution that holds significance for the nation.

While sources close to the Sussexes deny their involvement in the claims made in Scobie's book, doubts remain among the public.

Seeley argues that the seriousness of the accusations, particularly regarding the use of race to smear the royal family, necessitates action.

He proposes amending the Titles Deprivation Act of 1917, a law originally intended to strip enemy German nobles of their British royal titles during World War I, by removing references to enemies and present war.

Seeley plans to present his bill to Parliament in the coming weeks.

Harry and Meghan have yet to publicly address the allegations made in “Endgame.”

Scobie has repeatedly attributed the outing of the two names to translation errors, but a translator involved in the book's production disputes this claim, stating that the names were clearly mentioned.

Since their decision to step back from official royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan have been unable to use their royal titles of his and her royal highness.

The King is expected to consult with to discuss how best to handle the fallout from the scandal, although no formal meeting has been scheduled at this time.

As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether Parliament will take up Seeley's proposal and what consequences it may have for Harry and Meghan's royal status.

The public eagerly awaits further developments in this ongoing saga.
