Princess Kate Shines in Historic Tiara Loan from Royal Vault

Princess Kate, also known as Catherine, Princess of Wales, made headlines this week as she became the first royal to wear the illustrious Strathmore Rose tiara.

This stunning piece, which had been hidden from public view for decades, was loaned to her by Ivey, a gesture that symbolized his favor and trust in Kate.

The Strathmore Rose tiara holds great significance in the royal family's history.

It was originally given to Elizabeth Beauséleon in 2023 as a memento for her upcoming marriage to George VI.

Fast forward to present day, and Kate proudly donned the tiara while joining His Majesty, Queen , and in welcoming South Korean President Yoon Suk-yool at Buckingham Palace.

Jewelry expert Lauren Keena believes that this loan from the king is a testament to his faith in Kate and their strong friendship.

According to Keena, it is likely that the princess chose the tiara with the assistance of her father-in-law, showcasing her desire to preserve royal customs.

Kate has always expressed her admiration for the Queen Mother's royal role, and wearing her jewels serves as a significant symbol of continuity.

The timing of Kate's decision to wear the tiara, exactly a century after the Queen Mother first received it, is seen as particularly fitting.

This ancient piece of jewelry had fallen out of fashion for many years, but now, previously considered fussy or unfashionable, it has made a stylish comeback.

Author Bethan Holt notes the emotional significance of Kate wearing the tiara, as it had been stored away in the royal vault for a long time.

The late Queen Mother, who was very close to Her Majesty, held a special place in Kate's heart.

“Knowing that one of her most priceless pieces of jewelry is being worn by his daughter-in-law creates a very emotional link between the generations,” Holt told PEOPL.

Kate's decision to wear the tiara is also seen as a tribute to the Queen Mother's influence on her.

As someone who looked up to the late royal for guidance on how to conduct herself, it is believed that Kate wearing the tiara at such a public event is of utmost importance.

The Strathmore Rose tiara is a versatile piece, with detachable silver and gold prongs adorned with rose-cut stones.

While Kate opted for a more conventional placement on the top of her head, the Queen Mother was known for wearing it over her forehead, a fashionable choice in the 1920s.

This tiara, inherited by II in 2002, holds an estimated value of £1.5 million.
