Harry Turns Pale as BetterUp Accused of Stealing Researchers’ Data for Defense Department

Prince Harry's company, BetterUp, known for its human transformation platform, is facing accusations of stealing researchers' data to sell to the Department of Defence.

The controversy has left Harry visibly concerned and pale.

Today, BetterUp made an announcement about its open call for submissions for the prestigious annual research prize, granted by the Centre for Purpose and Performance.

This center, chaired by renowned organizational psychologist and author Adam Grant, was established in 2022 with the aim of deepening the understanding of well-being, purpose, and performance.

The recipients of the centre's research prize will be unveiled in the spring of 2024.

The grand prize winner will receive a substantial sum of $100,000, while two distinction award winners will each be granted $50,000 to bring their research proposals to life.

However, recent revelations suggest that BetterUp may be running out of ideas and resorting to acquiring others' work.

It appears that they are employing tactics to obtain ideas for free, making authors sign away their intellectual rights for their own use.

This practice is not uncommon, as many universities and conferences also request submissions and publish them, often without compensating the authors.

In some cases, authors are even charged to present their papers at conferences.

BetterUp seems determined to maintain control over who attends their exclusive event, as they require a work email and phone number for entry onto the waitlist.

Interestingly, six out of the eight listed speakers for the event are BetterUp executives, but El Chimpo, who caused controversy with his “It's All I Was Offered” comment at the Uplift Massive Eye Roll Summit, is notably absent.

It is unclear whether he will be excluded from the event, raising questions about his role within the company.

Prince Harry himself is expected to return to New York City to attend the awards ceremony.

However, finding a qualified individual who can propose and complete the study, including data analysis, within the designated 18-month timeframe may prove challenging.

Most researchers with the desired expertise are likely already affiliated with research institutions, universities, or large corporations, making it unlikely they would commit to the project for a meager grant and no benefits.

BetterUp's desperation is evident as they seek ideas from the public through a PR post on BusinessWire.

However, this raises ethical concerns, as a private company funding and partnering with a research project may limit the researcher's autonomy.

It is worth noting that BetterUp already has affiliations with renowned psychologists.

The question arises as to who will oversee the approval process of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), especially considering the company's involvement in user research to enhance its own profitability.

The shady practices of BetterUp come to light when examining their financial transactions.

Despite receiving a substantial $10 million from the government last year, the company does not have an official address.

Their inked documents are officially categorized as SAAS (Software as a Service).

Furthermore, allegations suggest that BetterUp is harvesting data and selling it to the Department of Defence, a questionable act that should be subject to legal scrutiny.

This means that taxpayer dollars are potentially being misused.

In a parallel development, Prince Harry is reportedly grappling with a significant realization regarding his strategy against the royal family.
