Count Nikolaj of Monpeziet Excited to Chart His Own Course After Losing Royal Title

In a recent interview with Wish magazine, Count Nikolaj of Monpeziet, who was stripped of his royal title last year, expressed his enthusiasm for forging his own path while remaining supportive of his cousin and future king, Prince Christian.

The 24-year-old royal, accompanied by his girlfriend, Benicte Thostrup, relocated to Australia this summer to study at the University of Technology Sydney for a semester.

Despite the tensions within the family last year, when Queen Margaret removed the prince and princess titles from Prince Joachim's four children, Nikolaj harbors no bitterness towards his grandmother.

He considers himself fortunate to have the freedom to choose his own destiny and has a deep fondness for Prince Christian, who recently turned 18.

The Danish royal family experienced a tumultuous year, marked by controversy surrounding the removal of titles from Prince Joachim's eldest son and his younger children, Athena (11), Felix (20), and Prince Henrik (13).

They are now referred to as counts and countesses and are addressed as “their excellencies.”

The Danish royal family updated their website in January to reflect this change in status.

Count Nikolaj admits that he was saddened and shocked by his grandmother's decision to strip him and his siblings of their titles.

However, he maintains his love and support for his family, including the heir.

This stands in stark contrast to the behavior of certain members of the British royal family, namely Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have distanced themselves and often criticized their own family.

Count Nikolaj's actions serve as a valuable lesson for Harry and Meghan, who, despite holding royal titles, have been accused of laziness and defaming their family.

In particular, Prince Harry's jealousy towards his older brother, Prince William, has been evident.
