Gienko Foundation’s Hollywood Gala Raises Funds for Vulnerable Women and Children in Nigeria
The Gienko Foundation recently hosted its annual Hollywood Gala at the One Hotel on Friday, September 29th.
The event aimed to raise funds for programs dedicated to supporting vulnerable women and children in Nigeria.
The proceeds from the gala will specifically contribute to the David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls.
The scholarship program provides full tuition, housing, healthcare, and social care to young female victims of gender inequality in Nigeria.
Its main objective is to uplift and empower brilliant girls who find themselves in challenging circumstances.
Additionally, the donations received will also support Gienko’s upcoming Special Surgical Mission to Nigeria, scheduled for November 2023.
The Gala received immense support from prominent figures in the entertainment industry.
Benedict Cumberbatch served as the Honorary Chair, while Chiwetel Ejiofor, David Oyelowo, and Foleke Oluwefeku took on the roles of Gala Chairs.
Notable attendees included previous Gala honorees and Oscar winners Charlize Theron and Forrest Whitaker.
Other celebrities present at the event were Rosario Dawson, Scott Eastwood, Ava DuVernay, and Sam Adedoki.
However, it is worth noting that Meghan and Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were not invited to the Foundation’s Gala.
This comes as a surprise, considering the couple’s recent announcement that they had made a donation to Gienko, specifically to support 2,500 school girls in Nigeria.
Interestingly, the report did not specify the number of backpacks provided, despite mentioning the education of 2,500 girls on menstrual health.
According to a source on Blind Item, Afem Onyema, the CEO of the Gienko Foundation, expressed gratitude to those who have contributed significantly to the organization during his speech at the Gala.
However, he did not mention Meghan and Harry’s contribution.
When asked about the Sussexes’ involvement, the CEO responded by stating that they had only provided a minimal number of backpacks to minimize expenses.
The inclusion of the 2,500 figure was seen as an intentional attempt to obscure the actual facts.
It is important to note that the photo shared showed 15 girls with backpacks, raising questions about the accuracy of the reported numbers.
This recent controversy surrounding Meghan and Harry’s involvement with the Gienko Foundation could potentially harm Meghan’s political aspirations.
After Meghan’s scandal involving New York students, her alleged fraud exposed by the Foundation could negatively impact her chances for election, particularly in light of Dianne Feinstein’s recent passing.
Feinstein, a senator from California with a 30-year tenure, has sparked speculation that Meghan may be eyeing her vacant seat.
Since arriving in the United States in 2020, Meghan has been actively involved in various political causes, including reaching out to Republican senators regarding family leave policies.
However, Meghan’s use of her royal title, the Duchess of Sussex, holds little significance in America, where royal titles are not recognized.
It is widely believed that Meghan has long harbored political ambitions, and her desire for the female senator’s seat is evident.
Nevertheless, relinquishing her royal title, which she holds dear, is something she is unlikely to consider, as it contributes to her sense of importance.
In conclusion, the Gienko Foundation’s Hollywood Gala successfully raised funds to support vulnerable women and children in Nigeria.
